freedom & happiness

A project directed by Monty Whitebloom, styled by Venetia Scott, and starring Assisi Jackson, these snippets are our ode to freedom & happiness.

When the world got too much, we found freedom and happiness in a red leopard swimsuit and a killer pair of heels. We danced like no-one was watching, and did what felt good.

Featuring our red leopard swimsuit and rock ‘n’ roll spirit, we hope that this film and our q&a nudges you to crank up whatever song gets you going and to dance, dance, dance your way into freedom and happiness…

Monty and Assisi on what freedom & happiness means to them:

What's your favourite song to dance to?
Assisi: ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna, followed closely by ‘Limb by Limb’ by Cutty Ranks.
Monty: ‘Your Love’ by Frankie Knuckles, closely followed by ‘Jasmine-demo’ by Jai Paul.

What does happiness mean to you?
Assisi: Having fun, naked dancing and feeling totally accepting of myself.
Monty: Surrounded by family and friends eating, talking, dancing and midnight swimming.

What does freedom mean to you?
Assisi: Nature, escaping from the human race and its contradictions.
Monty: I recently realised that we had all been swimming deep underwater without breathing and without knowing where we were going for the past few years. We were just chasing every opportunity without questioning anything. I’ve had to stop to ask, during this enforced moment of lockdown and the ongoing pandemic, what’s important to me, and why? Up until now I’ve had no revelation, no enlightenment, no answers. But at the very least I’m coughing and breathing half out of the water. So freedom to me is breathing, I guess.

What makes you feel good?
Assisi: Bass.
Monty: The hand of love.

Why is self expression and creativity important to you?
Assisi: They release me from wanting perfection, and allow me to laugh at myself.
Monty: They stop me from thinking about the fruitlessness of it all.
